I got a Yamaha 14x5.5 8 lug snare thrown in for free on a recent CL purchase. I was curious as to what series this drum is from? Also what type of wood it is and it's age. All the badge says is "Yamaha Wood Shell Air Seal System made in indonesia". I can't seem to find much info online. Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone.

Also I can't post pics right now, but as soon as I find my camera I will if that will help.

If the badge says "Made in Indonesia," then my guess would be that what you may have is a Yamaha Tour Custom (or perhaps an older Stage Custom?) snare. The Tour Custom drums are made in Indonesia and made of Asian maple wood (not regarded as highly as North American maple). This is a "lower-level" kit, as all of Yamaha's high-end gear (PHX, Maple Custom, Recording Custom, Absolute Series, and Oak Custom) are made in the main factory in Japan.

The Air Seal System is their patent method of making their ply shells.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I just thought it was weird it did not have a series listed on the badge was all.
