Coated vs Clear!

My friend is always saying i shouldnt buy clear drum skins, because coated are the best and take longer to wear out. what do you think? what do you use?

coated for the snare clear for the toms looks better and not a big deal of differnece i dont think on durability. and you get a different tone so its all whatr your looking for really when deciding

coated heads have a warmer tone, they do not last longer then clear coated, because the coating does not protect the plastic, in most cases.

It's been my experience that they wear out in the same amount of time, but clears lose their definition/brightness a little sooner (they have more to lose, though).
