Iron Cobra

I have had the Iron Cobra double pedal for like 2-3 years maybe? And I just recently got back into drumming after a break and found my pedal, but noticed some rust had developed on the left part of the bar that connects the pedals. Right at the connector, so when I go to hit the left pedal, it has more resistance and is not as smooth. Also if you hit both of them at the same time, the right one will still be moving for like 20 seconds and the left one will stop after like 4 seconds. Lol, WD40 take care of this, or am I screwed and need to invest in a new rod?

I'm pretty sure the entire pedal is made of steel so, yeah, try the wd40 first, it won't hurt anything.
