Hi im Brad,
I am going to be in the market soon for a new ride. I really like the Zildjian 24" K Light Ride, but i'd like toknow if there are any Sabians that have a similar sound. So I was wondering if anyone could help me. I would prefer a 24" but a 22" would also be fine.
Thanks for the Help, Brad

24" Paiste Giant Beat Ride
24" Meinl Byzance Medium Ride
24" Paiste 2oo2 Ride
the Giant Beat may be the most similar, the Meinl plays lighter than its weight would imply and the 2oo2 is brighter...
the K is rather unique, a thin dirty washy ride that can still project, an awsome piece of bronze!
if you talk to Steamer, he may have some good suggestions from Istanbul, i don't know the line up well enough...
good hunting!
edit; sorry, closet thing from Sabian might be the 22" Artisan Ride, but it aint cheap ;-)

Wait to hear the new 24" Joey Waronker and 23" Matt Chamberlain Signature rides in the flesh from Istanbul Agop based on the reports i'm getting coming in from NAMM 09.

Introducing the 23" ride! It has the feel of a 22 but the sound of a 24!

Well if it's the new Istanbul Agop Matt Chamberlain Signature 23" ride your commenting about {?} it fits in the zone of size and character for a ride under discussion at present.
If it sounds great and delivers the goods at 23" that's all that really matters since it's another option and contender worth considering in my view in the 22" and up ride size camp.

I had a 24" Light Ride at one time but traded it in for something else (as I seem to do with most things). In terms of a Sabian match, the HHX Legacy Rides come to mind. They have a 22" Legacy Heavy ride that sounds similar, if not exactly the same.

Here are some of your options...similar, but nowhere close to the sound of the K...if you like the K...get it!
24" Sabian Vault Artisan Light Ride (custom size)
24" HHX Legacy Ride (custom size)

I thought that you were going to go for the hats first based on the advice in the other thread.
I have a Zildjian 24" light ride and I love it, but I wouldn't want it as a primary rock ride.
If I had only 1 ride for rock I would rather use my K 22" med dark or A 20" Medium.
Check out the Zildjian A 21" Sweet ride as well.
