...I had the time and the inclination to do something that many of you on trhis board suggested I do.

I created a monster.

This is Wankasaurus Rex.

These are my two WMP dub kits blended together to produce a nine piece double bass arena rock monster.

Specs are 24x16, 18x16, 16x16, 15x13, 14x14, 12x8, 13x9, 14x6 maple snare, and 13x5.5" Craviotto.

The cymbals include 21" wil calhoun ride, 14" manhattan hats (main), 14" el sabor hats (remote), 18" aaxplosion crash, 18" el sabor crash, 18" hh med crash, 18" hhx legacy crash, 18" hhxtreme crash.

Lots of choice on this little beast.

...thanks guys.

I have to confess, I am enjoying this set up. I have made some changes that I will edit in.

Pass. you live in Edmonton ? I live in Sherwood park.

...some newer pics.

for this set up I switched the Craviotto with the 14x6" edge and moved it above the 15. I moved the aux hats to in between the 12, and 13" toms, (which I also reversed), replaced the 18" el sabor crash with an 18" fast china that I moved over to the right side of the kit.

...Namaste' my friend.

I learned a new word today. "Ostentation".

My main purpose for setting this up was to take some pictures. I have to admit though, I am having a lot of fun with this girl hair, spandex, double pumping arena rock monster. I am going to leave this set up, tweak as necessary, and maybe start growing my mullet,

LoL, Barry, you do it. Its now or never for some of us. ( I'm summoning up the nerve to prematurely retire a few of my toms, and see how that goes.

Lets us know how it feels to ride a T-rex .

You're right,it does look very Shaughnessy-esque. This kit makes me laugh...Barry,I always thought of you as our resident Ringo...Now I'm beginning to think that you and Keith Moon deserve each other...

Exactly what I thought. I'd love to play this setup, looks sweet. I don't care what some people say about downsizing or simplifying, sometimes you just want to play a big kit.

Ha!! Keep going in that direction , Bozzio will feel threatened and have to double up on his drums...

why don't you put all your kits together and make a big one?

baz
01-12-2009, 05:52 AM
...it is a little more than my usual four.

This kit started out as drum porn, but I have been tweaking it in the hope that I can make it a comfortable workable kit. I am having a lot of fun on this thing. It wont be long before my enthusiasm wanes and I can flee back to my comfort zone.

That's a pretty comfortable-looking setup for such a big kit. I love the symmetry too... I swear one day I will buy a remote hi hat... Then it will be on!

Love it!

You should whip out the oyster DW behind it and go for 3!

Has it got a name yet?

See what happens when you stay in your basement too long when you should have been watching the NFL playoffs?

Apparently the saying is right: "The Bozzio finds work for idle hands." Or something like that...

...I was doing this while watching hockey and football

I have had about my fill-0-fun with this kit. I am going to break it back down.

Thank you to all who responded.

did'nt Frankenstein die in the original also?...
i like the crazy, creative leap you made and you can't argue with the great symmetry of the setup, i love those floor toms on the left - in the end we are only the sum of our ideas - good, bad and ugly!

Thanks Barry,

I was another that had requested you put your two WMPs together.

Beautiful. Don't tear it down yet. You have double bass work to do.

I play each new config for a week. Saturday is "New Set Up Day"

...one thing that stood out on my wankasaurus rex kit was how I did not want to play groove. I wanted to wank out and do the bus running into a row of shopping carts thing. No matter how hard I tried, it would only take a few bars then the full blown wank was on.

...hello again Pass.

I used to do the same, but now if I tell someone that I live in Sherwood Park and they ask me where it is, I tell them that it is south of Fort MacMurray.

Long&McQuade and Mothers Music both sell DW. I bought two and a half kits from L&M, the rest of my stuff was bought at Mothers. Both stores are good, and both stores have a couple of kits on the floor.

There is also this really cool ebony lacquer tiger ash DW kit on consignment at the Acoustic Music shop on Whyte ave.
