Hi everyone,
I have a good deal in buying any of these two cymbals second hand, the price its the same. The avedis seems in better condition but they are both all right.
From what i have seen in the sites about sound (i never play them myself), the sound seems..., similar with maybe the avedis just a bit brighter and with faster decay than the AAX, but i quite like them both of them.
My intention is they need to be a versatile cymbal for everything, and it will be my main crash actually. I have a Byzance 13 dark hats, and a Byzance 20 dark ride that will have to play with this crash.
What will it be your suggestion?, and please justify... :-)
Thanks in advance,

the Avedis will be dryer, brighter, faster... and the AAX a little darker, trashier, but no warmer... the AAX may blend a little better with the dark hats and ride you currently play.
out of curiosity, is it the price that keeps you from buying a Byzance 'dark' or 'traditional' crash to go with the hats and ride?
just my .02$, good hunting!

I'm have pretty much quandry. I think I've pretty much decided to buy a new AAX 16" Dark crash, I will also be using this as my main crash, alongside Zildjian Avedis 14" Edge hats and 20" ride. they have a pretty dark sound to them.
majority of guys on here seem to rate the AAX series pretty highly.
any other thoughts?

Hi, it is actually the price. I am so happy with the byzance series they are incredible cymbals. But i am running out of cash and need a crash, so i prefer to buy second hand instead of a brand new mid series cymbal, i think is best. Those were the two that i could get at a better price.
thanks.

Go dark. Sabian has a great thing going with the AAX dark crashes, 16s and 17s especially.

I own two 19" AAX Dark Crashes. I absolutely love them. It's a killer cymbal that not many people know about. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

The AAX 16 Dark is an awesome cymbal, but keep in mind this is ALL personal preference. It's not right or wrong.
I play music that typically lends itself to the brighter cymbals, but I simply don't like those cymbal sounds that much, especially as compared to the darker sounds. So I try to stick with darker cymbals. Just my taste.
