Ahead 7A sticks

Hey guys
I want a new pair of drum sticks and considering Ahead 7A's as i have always played with 7A's and want sticks that don't chip as easily.
But i have a few questions about these sticks that i would love answers for :).

1) How heavy are they compared to 7A wood sticks?
2) What exactly is the head , nylon , wood?
3) Would you reccomend these to someone even if they aren't a hard hitter?
4) Do they actually mark cymbals and drum heads? (I am a very light hitter btw).

1) They are roughy the same weight but they do have a different feel.
2) Nylon tips
3) No, I wouldn't recomment them but thats my opinion.
4) Yes, they do mark cymbals.. but nothing to write home to mom about.

I don't like Ahead sticks simply because of the sound and feel. I enjoy the crisp sound a wood stick gives off of a cymbal or rimshot and the way wood feels against my cymbals and drums.

A few years back, I had the opportunity to play a set of Ahead Joey Jordison signature sticks, which have the same basic measurements as a 7A. They were suprisingly controllable and felt really good in my hands (although they didn't have the natural flexibility of wood). I can't say that about any other stick from Ahead that I've tried. Since you're not heavy hitter, I would recommend trying out a pair of the 7A's for yourself; they're actually a good investment because you can keep replacing the plastic covers and nylon tips if they break.

I have been using the Ahead 7A's for about two years. After playing Pro-marks 727's since the 70's I must say I like the Aheads better. They have much more feel and less vibration and they even give the toms a lower sound. They last for darn near ever. In two years I only had to replace one tip and the covers still have much use left. Try them you will love them.

I have a pair of those and they've lasted about 4 years now. I often play with a "thumb up" French grip with my right hand and when I first played them years ago they gave me a blister on my thumb. If you put a piece of stick tape on the seam over the butt handle and the cover, they are pretty comfortable sticks.

I don't use them very often. If you are a stick breaker you might like them.

I have been using them (2B) for 9 yeas now. I don't see me using anything else. I have also used 5B and 5A. I tried 7A's and they were fine but too light for me.

I was at GC and I had plans to pick up some Weckl sticks and another BD port, but as I waited in line, the JJ sigs were sitting on the counter right under my nose.

I got those instead.

No regrets, I'm sold on Ahead.

I had two sets of Ahead sticks. First pair lasted me about 6 months of minimal use then broke... 5B's Second pair , 5A's, 3 songs. I did ONE song with a few rim shots with it and it snapped right at the handle/ Brought it back to the store, got my money back, bought wooden sticks, never buy again. It seems anything that has the name Easton on it for me breaks easily. bike frames bike handlebars, drumsticks, they all break.no more easton anything for me . Wooden sticks, especially the ProMark 747 Japan Oak sticks, last until the center of the stick is the size of a tooth pick.
Ahead sticks just dont sound right to me in many ways... the difference to me is like processed cheese is to real cheese.
