View Full Version : A good crash?
I am currently using
Paiste PST 5 14" Medium hi-hats
Paiste PST 5 16" Medium Rock Crash
Paiste PST 5 20" Medium Ride...
I would like a cymbal that sounds great stand alone, and would go with these cymbals well, obviously i am using a cheaper set of cymbals, so lower price would be better.
Contemplating Sabian AA 16" bright crash. Any first hand reviews of said cymbal?
I am more a fan of Sabian / Paiste, and i would like a more vibrant crash then the 16" medium.
If anyone knows of a good crash to look out for, within the price range $300 - $450 Aussie, (1st or 2nd hand) please dont hesitate to give the details :)
Thanks.

That is in Australian dollars $213 - $319.50 US Dollars... roughly.
Still a little pricey don't you think?
In any case, any cymbal you choose in that price range BETTER put a huge smile on your face.
oops: Welcome to the forum
Hey if they're cheaper its better ^_^
just wondering if anyone has any first hand expirience with a cymbal that was really "wow thats a great cymbal" cause im going to start getting into gigs and stuff (only 16) and i'd rather have my own quallity stuff then have to borrow my mates / drum teachers all the time.
I've been curious for quite some time as to what the musical equipment landscape is like in Australia. I assume in Sydney, Melbourne and maybe even Canberra there are most brands of drums and cymbals.
I guess Australia is so far away from US, Canada, Switzerland and Germany that cymbals just cost more. What about drums? You Aussies are close to Asia.
Are there stores where you can go and play many different kinds of drums and cymbals?
BTW, if you like Paiste, try one of the Alpha crashes. I've heard that some of them sound really good.

if you can, don't cheap out on your cymbals, i play B8's and if i could i'd rather just play a single quality cymbal rather than my three crappy ones!
that said, take a look at Sabian's AAX's or Paiste 2oo2's, both are bright, musical and versatile.
good hunting!

Drums range from the cheapest of the cheap $500 for the basic 5 piece with hats / crash
to the $10,000 pearl and what not 5 peice.
And i live in newcastle (400,000 people) and there is a whole shop dedicated to drums and cymbals, but alot of the people that work there try to sell stuff, not give what is best.
thanks for the suggestions on cymbals! keep em coming! :D
I really like the sound of the Paiste Alpha 16" thin crash!
