Hi everybody,

I decided to sell my little Gretsch Cat's Jazz for a beautiful Yamaha that I saw a week ago in a music store near my house. It was exacty the sizes and the finish I was looking for so I cannot resist. The Jazzy size of my Gretsch was not enough versatile for me. I love a lot of music style but I most in Rock , Indie Rock and Post Rock. So ...

P.s. It was a really hard work to fit all these drums in a Hyundai Accent 2 doors. Oh yes.

No, no! I bought it 2-3 weeks ago.

For the new heads I'll try to wait a little bit. I've not enough money right now :p

There's that acrolite! I just put a brand new coated evans G2 on my acro and it sounds way too sweet. How do you like the fiberskyn on yours? Those birch SCs are great. If I had to pick only one finish I could buy drums in, I'd be inclined to pick natural wood finish.

Those are great sizes, the bass drum is a monster even with the stock heads (2x powerstroke). I got to piece together and test two such sets, one with 20" bass drum and 14" floor tom and the other one similar to yours. I preferred this bigger one for my use. I'd change the stock heads on toms because I prefer thicker bottom heads for more sustain and projection. The kit had diplomat weight bottom heads on toms. Off course you could use the original batter heads as bottom heads.

The fiberskyn sound really dry and warm on the Acrolite, I like it a lot. For the heads , I don't think I'll stay with those more than a week... I never liked clear heads ... I'll put surely G2 coated over g1 clear or coated.

and no kidding - my kit i just got is exactly the same, i love mine, the hardware allows for a lot of versatilty and cameras just do no justice to the natural finish, you'll have to let me know how you like the 10" tom in particular - its my nemisis :-)

I have some problems with the tuning of the 10X8 but I think I tune it just a little bit too high. How do you like the snare? It difficult to tune but it sound really crisp when you find the spot.

i had trouble with getting a good sound from the the snare until i swapped the awful smooth stock head for a coated Ambassador, then easily tuned it up to this crisp marching snare sound with the yamaha muffling ring on, take the ring off and it sings pretty good with some heavier playng!
the 10" tom ( with the stock head ) seems to like real tight tuning and nothing else, seems one dimensional and quite flat when you try taking it lower :-( may try some different heads later though.

I put a Hazy 300 on the SC snare and it sounds a lot better. With a G1 batter it will sound geat. For the 10" tom I put a G1 Coated and it sings perfectly. I'll switch the batter of the 12" and 16" by two G2 coated.

Wich heads you use for the bass drums? Do you muffled it?
