Buzzing Snare

I'm sure you've all had this problem. The snare buzzing when your bass or guitar player is playing low notes, I know the problem is the metal wire below vibrating, but what can I do to stop this and preserve a decent tone, Steve Jordan'ish.

you might try tuning your reso head a little tighter and your wires a little tighter. Guess the real question is can it be heard 10 ft away over the other instruments where the closest person in an audience would hear it

Wow, that's odd--it did when I posted it. I even tested the linky. Thanks for the heads-up.

In any case, if the OP would search all forums on "snare buzz" he'll get about a week's worth of reading.

I'm sure there are many good threads about this subject. But if I could quickly offer one tip, I slightly detune the four tension rods adjacent to the sanre wires on the bottom head. It decreases the buzz a little but does not affect the snare response.

different snares are better for this than others... PureSound snares are amazing. Cable and gut snares rattle least. The pitch of the bottom head I'm sure has something to do with it as well. That note resonates with the guitar and rattles those snares.

Another idea:
Tape some paper under a little portion of the snare bed, so that a little bit of the snares are actually vibrating on the paper as opposed to the head itself. It doesn't change the sound all that much, but takes away most snare buzz. I might be able to post a pic later...
