View Full Version : Is it only Paiste cymbals that have a protective spray coating applied to them?

I was thinking of cleaning my Meinl Byzance cymbals - but if they have a spray coating on them similar to Paiste cymbals, then they might be ruined by cleaning...

Thanks in advance for any replies....

Groove juice or Sabian's cleaner both claim to not remove the protective coatings on cymbals. Check it out to be sure and you can clean them up without worrying.

Cleaning them won't ruin them. Just don't use anything too abrasive.

I use those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers on my cymbals to remove the logos and get the coating off. Shiny clean naked bronze.
DO NOT USE THESE IF THAT IS NOT WANT YOU WANT TO DO!

I think Zildjian, Sabian and Paiste all coat their cymbals with something.

that's a cool trick, I'll have to pick me up some of that stuff. any tips on how to remove the logos with the Mr. Clean erasers? I'd be interesting in trying that on some of my cheap entry-level cymbals that I don't use anymore.
