I know electronic kits are not the preferred way to go, but I'm in an apartment and need something I can jump on whenever I have a few minutes to practice. So I just got a set of Roland V drums (TD20), hoping I would get by playing them in my apartment. I've been practicing them mostly with head phones or even not on at all, just using them like a practice kit and with all windows and doors closed. But I have a 'touchy' downstairs neighbor who is complaining. I think it's the kick that's the issue as I can't imagine the rest of the kit making enough noise to hear outside the apartment.

So my question is;
Does anyone have any ideas about designs for a short riser or some way to pad or somehow to reduce the "thump" from the kick and the rest of the kit?

Try getting some antifatigue mats they are inexpensive, closed cell foam squares that interlock. Usually can be found at auto stores like pep boys. You can put a rug over them and they will absorb vibration from going ino the floor below.
