So guys I think its finally time I dive into this stuff. Now before you guys go recommending books I was hoping maybe sum1 could just give me sum advice. My example would be the groove for seven days by Sting. Now I understand how it is put together but i cant get my left to hit on time with the whipping accented sixteenths with the right. Any ideas of how you guys were able to get your limbs to do stuff like that? Srry if i put this in the wrong thread..i just realized lol

Putting the two hands together with the 7 days groove is nothing more than slowing it way down and thinking hard as you play it as to which hihat stroke each snare hit is going to land. Having it written out is helpful as you can visualise the snare position on paper. Slow it down to a speed that seems almost laughably slow, get it all lined up correctly at that speed and, most importantly, stick at that speed for a decent amount of time. Resist the temptation to immediately start moving the tempo up.
Succeeding at coordination challenges really is nothing more than going very very slowly.

I'd recommend you start looking into world rhythms like Latin, Afro-Cuban, etc. You'll develop independence and gain a sense of being able to hear more than one rhythm from more than one limb, simultaneously. The Drumming Bible is a great resource for this.
