View Full Version : Drum cover help
I suck at drum cover...I mean I'm really dreadful at them. I struggle to do AC/DC! It's not the beat or the timing, it's the fills. Every band I try to play to, I can't figure out what to hit in the fills! Anyone help?

Then you have to listen more carefully. Listen over and over and over. Thats what I do. I have done covers for over 20 years. I listen to the songs in my car on the way to and from work and on my days off as much as I can. If you can figure out the beats and changes in chorus, verse and bridge you should be able to nail the fills. Analyze; is the first hit of a fill a snare? crash? cowbell?..................take it note for note if need be.
Ok, I'll try that, thanks!

Your welcome.
Also consider your age, level of playing and amount of time you get to play. I started out listening to Van Halen, Ozzy, Rush, Maiden, David lee Roth and more 80's stuff. Van Halen and Ozzy were two that I listen to a lot. Some of Alex's drumming was hard to copy when I started. Just remember it may not happen over night. But it will happen.
