Metronome is always welcome:)The books are very good too.
Sometimes bass drum doesn't sound ''tight'' enough because of technique. Right motions allow foot to work more accurately-tightely. For this I suggest Matt Ritter's DVD ''UnBurying The Beater''. Very good vid is also Steve Smith's DVD and I've heard good things about Tim Waterson's DVD.

Ray Luzier (Korn) has a DVD that'll help. It comes with transcriptions of all the ex. on the DVD. He demonstrates clearly basic exercises that'll reveal how to gain coordination and control between feet and hands. I just got the DVD and am surprised it hasn't been mentioned. 5 stars for this puppy that covers the most basic to the instellar...
