Hey guys!
Thought I should share my thoughts on this BEAUTIFUL book about independence drumming. I know that on my posts about which book would I suggest would usually be the first one that I advise form some time is Marco Minnemann's Extreme Interdependence book.
So when did I bought this book?
Well I bought it right away after watching the Johnny Rabb/Marco Minnemann's clinic in Vancouver B.C - Canada(my native land) when I was there spending my vacations.

So I arrived at S.Miguel in the middle of September and started practicing the book.
So it all began with the first chapter of course: Warm-ups

Contains 32 warm-up exercises.
And to be honest they didn't look to hard at first to execute but the farther you go, the more complex the exercises become.
BUT after each exercise you become more and more aware about the key to independence.
It really makes your mind work harder because you have to break down the pieces of this "machine" we call independence with the FOUR limbs of course, and then put them back together.

So it has been only today that I finished the first chapter (Warm-ups)!
Why did it take so long? Because I don't have the benefit of being able to practice my instrument when I want. But that doesn't matter because I achieved what wanted till now and I'll be continuing this book because I know that only this first chapter has helped my independence tremendously, it has open my mind more to creativity because since it makes us work with ALL 4 limbs, I came up now with some cool hi-hat foot stuff with ride cymbal and etc. And new ideas keep coming and coming and I'm being able to execute them with less difficulty than before.

So I know that the next chapters will help me more not only in my independence but my creativity as well.
I have to thank Marco Minnemann and Rick Gratton for this GREAT BOOK!

And I strongly recommend this book!
It will open your mind in drumming to a whole new level ;)

Hey man, Marco is one of my favorite drummers and definitely a giant among this generation's greats. Did that book by any chance come with a dvd?

Well mine didn't. But in the back of the book it shows the forewords by Virgil Donati, Dom Famularo and Jim Chapin and it also describes the extreme drumming DVD, but doesn't contain the DVD.
But the DVD does not show everything in the book. It shows a lot of performances and he also breaks it down and stuff ;)

But it came with a cd

Yeah it looks great. It's going to be my next long-term commitment or 'project' book.

I finished Advanced Techniques For The Modern Drummer about a year ago, and I'm now working on The New Breed. Once I've finished The New Breed in about a year or two, I'm either gonna jump straight onto The New Breed II or Extreme Independence.
