To put it into perspective, it's like you're going onto a car forum and asking does General Motors make good cars?

DW makes expensive, high-end kits. Generally they are regarded as good, but for the price you can get better. We need to know specifics about the kit and the price to tell you if it's a good deal.

DW is considered by many as a premium brand of drums. Whether or not they appeal to you is your call.

Ok I have to ask, how can you not know about DWs reputation?

They build pro level gear, as with any other drum line that is at the top it all boils down to personal preference.

I happen to love them and own 2 kits. If the price is right you simply can't go wrong.

Just because somebody loves them, doesn't mean that they're the greatest drums in the world. Just because somebody thinks that they're way too overpriced and over-hyped doesn't mean that they aren't still great drums.

I, personally, don't think that DWs sound any better than a Tama Starclassic or a Ludwig Classic Maple. Just different. I think that the particular set of DW tubs that I have is the set for me, and if they were a set of Tamas or Ludwigs and they sounded like these drums do, then I would have a set of Tamas or Ludwigs...
