my drum teacher has non metal snares on her one snare drum im just wondering if anyone could supply me a link to a site that sells them, or if GC does?

By "non-metal snares", do you mean snare wires made out of cable or gut? Those types of snare wires are mostly used for symphonic snare drums. Grover Percussion is a leading maker them: http://www.groverpro.com/home.html

I want to learn more about this. What are the different kinds of things snares are made out of (gut, plastic, metal, ?) and what are their properties?

well my teacher has gut snares on her wooden snare and it gives a really nice low dep fat sound and i wanna try some out thank you for the link Drifter!

also has anyone used these on set snares, my teacher said they're good for big band and swing but i want to try them for other styles of music.
also does anyone know any national level dealers who sell them?
