Does anybody know what genre the tune 'Tequila' is? I played it at the weekend but am just wondering what type of music it is. Wikipedia says it is 'surf' music but I think it is more latin sounding.

I personally think it's just 'cheese' sounding.
Genre is just an opinion.

I guess it could be a funky latin thingy or something. Tough call.

The drum part is technically a "mambo", though I would hardly call the song a mambo and it does in fact sicken me to hear it or play it.

Possibly the best use of the song in cinematic history...

I would call it latin influenced early rock and roll. And it doesn't bother me one bit to play it! Part of being a professional, paid musician is playing music someone else, besides a drummer or other musician, wants to hear.

Thanks guys, we played it when the singer went outside for a smoke, it sure got the crowd out shaking their asses.

I have to agree, there are a few songs that are not my favorite to play but if the crowd gets up and dances then you are doing your job.
Dancers buy drinks = band gets paid ;-)
