Evans Genera Dry Question

What is the difference between The HD Genera Dry and the regular Genera Dry? I see they are both are 2 ply but can get in 1 ply but what is the difference?

1 ply is one layer of head material. 2 is.....2. 2 would obviously be more durable. What snare drum are you putting this on? I have a 13x6 maple snare that I put the Genera dry on and did not like the head at all.

I had a regular Genera and that was too much. It was just too dead sounding with that ring. I use G1 Coated heads now, truly beautiful. I think I've tried a drum with a Dry head and it was perhaps the most useless thing I've ever heard--stick a snare on a plastic bowl and you get the same effect. As for an HD Dry....unless you are playing some massive steel snare or something that rings a lot, I would stay clear of it. If you want a dry head look at just the Genera, or Genera Dry, Orchestral Staccato, EC Snare. However, I think you will be most happy with just a G1 Coated head and Moongels or something if you get to a situation where you need dampening.

Same here. The genera dry was just way too dead for me.

Yea the Genera is almost an equivalent to a Remo Coated Powerstroke 3. And the HD Genera is like Powerstroke 4. Those rings on the underside really muffle the drum a little TOO much.

A Coated G2 or G1 would work very nice on a snare.. Or a Coated PC Rev Dot. I use all 3 heads.

i had the ps3 on both of my snares and i thought it rang too much haha so thats why i was asking about the difference was of the 2 generas. i ordered the single ply Genera dry so we will see what happens. thanks for your responses.

Yeah the difference is that Genera is 10mil single ply where the HD is 7.5/5mil double ply.
