BASS DRUM HEAD QUESTION

i have a pdp mx maple with a dw/remo head on my 22x18 bass drum and i decided to put a pillow in it to muffle the overtones and it sounds alot better and i was wondering should i buy like an aquarian super kick II or like an emad or emad 2 or would I just be wasting my money and would it sound the same as my remo dw head with a pillow? Does a pillow take away from the overall sound? Also please reccomend which head you thik i should get if i need one.
