Viper knows where its at, lester is ridiculousLester IS ridiculous, but it's obvious the Rays are to be reckoned with. I'd be mad as hell, but not surprised if they took it all.

I also wanted to see the Dodgers do well to give SteinBonehead and the Yankees something to think about in the off season after not resigning Torre. But now that Manny has been Manny and defected with his defects I hope they fall on their faces. All due respect (and it IS much) to Joe Torre, one of the BEST the game has ever seen.

And how can you not like Pinnella and the Cubs?? But it doesn't look too good as they're down 2 to the Dodgers already.

But of course, I bleed RED into my Sox, so, sans the post season workhorse Schilling but still with our newest "ace" Lester, Daisuke, and Beckett the third game "ace" and the proven post season bullpen commodity Jonathan Papelbon things are looking pretty good in the "Bay" state.
(yeah, I MEANT to word it like that)
Jason Bay has been the PERFECT addition to the Red Sox. No, he's not a HOF hitter like Mini Mind Manny, but he's a total ball player and has brought peace and a contagious work ethic to the Red Sox clubhouse.

My hopes for a Red Sox - Cubs world series aren't dead yet. So we'll see, it's Post Season, and you can NEVER tell!!

GO SOX!! (the red ones)

Yeah Viper I bet you did the same little celebration I did when Torre signed with the dodgers, that was an idiot move by Steinbrenner and co., he is one of the best. And you have to love Bay he is the anti-Manny. Two things i'm worried about: The Rays like you, and Jed, who started off soo hot but now seems like he strikes out every other at bat, I think if he can put the ball in play more he'll get real hot but he keeps striking out in clutch spots (regular season). Our bulpen looked like a worry but Masterson completley solidified it and Okie and Manny returned to form.

I was SHOCKED when they threw him out with yesterday's stale cannoli!! MAN!! And Gerardi's a nice guy n' all, but he's no Joe Torre. The Dodgers made it to the Post Season, proof enough that it was a mistake, but Steinbonehead ain't too bright and he'll go to his grave believing he made the right move.

Yeah, Lowri's bat HAS cooled off, but that's the beauty of the Red Sox, it's someone different all the time, you don't have to rely on just one or two guys. Everyone takes a turn at being the big gun for the evening. I'm gonna miss Lowell, as much of a trooper as he is, I don't see him making the complete post season. :(

HA HA !! Ray's are down 2-1 as we type!! (I'll root for the white sox JUST for this series) L0L!!

No such luck. I'll wager it'll go the full 7 games too, there will be no free ride here.

Kind of a shame that NONE of the Chicago teams passed to the LCS.

If we break the Rays, I'm thinking it'll be the Red Sox vs Manny Ramirez, Francona vs Torre. That TOO will be very interesting should it come to pass.

Only time will tell.

I don't see the Angels as being one of the best teams in baseball. They ARE a great team, but I think they are not as good as their numbers suggest.

If they were in the AL east they would NOT look so good, it's their division that makes them look so good on paper. Their division is the WEAKEST division in baseball, and they're an above average team. Basically the big fishes in the small pond.

Do you really see them being so dominant in the AL east against the Rays, Yankees, Jays not to mention the Red Sox??

No way to prove it, but I really believe in this assessment of the Angels.

I usually don't care at all for teams outside of Texas, but my heart sunk when the Cubs lost. I can just imagine the high hopes those fans had this year. And then for their beloved team to go out in the first round. Ouch.

But I'm really rooting for the Rays. They've gone from being the worst team in the league last year to probably winning the whole thing this year.

True, but the Cubs came in with 97 wins and the Angels has 100 wins or so, which was the best record in the league, right?

That's what I was told, at least. Oh yeah, the best RECORD, but not one of the best teams because of it. They got that record beating up on the AL west teams which really sucked this year.

I'm just saying they're not as good as that record would lead you to believe.

Most disturbing.

The Rays have managed to get 2 wins to the Red Sox' ONE!! I'm quite upset about all the men left on base!!

Becket AND Lester were not NEARLY on their games.

I'm very depressed as I hoped Lester would be a shoe-in for a win as was NOT the case.

I also figured out why BJ Upton hits for such power, HE'S THE SUPER HERO FROZONE FROM THE INCREDIBLES!!!!!!

Insanely disturbing, like I shut off the drums after the seventh, and played until now without even checking the score...Again, that or I'll have a nervous breakdown.
I think B.J.'s power came from the becket grooved fastball and Lester's in the same spot. And did you see the pitch to Longoria from Beckss...ohhh lordy 85 mph and right down the middle, I play small high school ball and I maybe coulda taken that yard..

OK,

Once again the Red Sox are down to the wire, it's Do or Die time AGAIN! AGAIN they must put up, or go home.

I feel they are in a very precarious place and the pendulum could swing either way.

Did the Sox turn the tides to favor them with the spectacular win in Game 5 on Thursday?
Have they mentally stricken the Rays, hopefully fatally, giving the Red Sox an advantage?
Will the starting pitching (Josh Beckett) bring his "A" game?
Is Beckett physically ABLE to bring his "A" game?
Will Big Papi's bat continue to swing successfully continuing his otherworldly post season Clutch Hitting status?
Will playing at The Trop be too much negative vibe for the Sox to overcome?
Will the cowbells interfere with the Red Sox ability to concentrate?
Will the "been here, done this before" status make Game 6 no big deal?

Will "Big Game James" step up and fill the open shoes that his name suggests?
Will the Ray's bats continue to pound the outfield bleachers?
Will the stress of Game 5's loss weigh enough on their minds to induce silly errors from trying TOO hard?
Will The Trop boost the Rays to give them the added psychological edge?
Will the young and eager beat the veterans with experience?
Will these uncharted waters be too unfamiliar and cause a distraction to The Rays?

These and many more questions will be answered tonight.

GAME 6 of the American League Championship Series.
TONIGHT!! Go RED SOX!!

no More COWBELL!!

I fear the Rays "Fair Weather Fans" were a bit taken aback by the circumstances. (see picture below)

How is it there's not a single last years green Rays jersey in the crowd? I'll tell you why, they've never SEEN a baseball game until this year. Where were the Ray's Fans when the Rays SUCKED and NEEDED fan support?? Where were the Ray's Fans when the Trop was called "Fenway South" because there were so many Red Sox fans in attendance?
This is the new "Pink Hat" this year.

First of all, this part of Florida is transplant land. Most residents are from some other region or state that have moved here. The Boston fans that were in attendance were locals wearing Boston gear because its easier to root for a winner than to admit they lived here. As for the lack of old jersies, I guess the Boston fans that flipped flopped, had to buy new gear so that again, they could root for the winner. Fair weather is a good depiction for the fans, since the Boston fans rooting for Tampa now are also fair weathered. If the Rays don't win another game this year, they have proven to be a worthy competitor now and not just a door mat. If memory serves they did win the division this year. More cowbell. Another reason for the change of jersies is the change of name. Tampa Bay Rays. No longer the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The fans are into it enough to change jersies with the team and not wear old gear.

Although your explanation almost makes sense, I find it hard to believe EVERY fan would buy a new jersey, you mean to tell me ALL of them found it distasteful to wear LAST YEAR'S jersey? What are the ODDS!!

As for Red Sox nation, it is well documented that it has popularity second to NONE in Florida and most other states. Even BEFORE they were a winning team.

It was funny watching them not how to watch a game last night, a pitch right down the middle called strike, boos because they wanted to show their into it. Now Game 5's crowd, ridiculous, thats what happens when none of the rich people go to say they went you get the Fenway magic, great picture in The Boston Globe today of a very verrrrry flabby guy without a shirt on trying to rile the crowd up down 7-0.

OK you win I quit.............

But to use your explanation, none of last years fans are there this year or there would be old jersies. I have hats and jersies from the first year that I wouldn't wear now. I'm not sure what your point is. I'm rooting for my team, you're rooting for yours. I guess you don't have a choice living in Rhode Island where there are no teams.

LOL, Rays fans...who would have thunk it.. Only an unknowledgable dork would still bring up babe ruth...LOL I was gonna say congrats but you guys sound like bigger asses then the fans you so hate. Hey how about supporting the team when they lose too?? I feel bad for the real fans in Philly who have to listen to the queer cowbells for 2 more games. If it was not for transplanted fans TB would not even have a team, you hear more fans from the other team (any team) at all their games except when they are winning of course.. Fairweather Rays fans...good luck but I think the Phillies will sweep your sorry asses under the rug. Then you can go back to bingo and shuffleboard. Curious to see what the ratings will be for this one.

Red Sox will re-load for next year, great ownership, great farm club. They also pushed the Ray's to the limit despite all their injuries. Nothing to be ashamed of sox fans, besides we have a real Baseball Park. What a dump The Trop is.

Good luck to the Ray's, they beat us fair and square and I think they are going to put the Phillies away in 5.

See you next year!

I just find it interesting that the first year they take off the word "Devil" from their name, and just call them the Tampa Bay Rays...

they go all the way to the World Series.

Hmm...

And for the record I don't have a problem congratulating a team that wins but when the fairweather fans come and start talking about the losing teams fans well, thats just chicken shit in my eyes. How about being a humble winner ?

Anyway congrats to the rays, their pitching held up even after one of the biggest chokes in MLB history. That game was one of the best I have ever seen, but to be honest if I did not just get out of an Australian Pink Floyd concert (which was amazing by the way) I probably would have turned the game off after the 6th inning.

Would love to see Philly win as I think they deserve it more but I think the Rays are just to strong, TB in 5

Not to change the subject(World Series) but...

I just played in a 2-day golf tournament, today and yesterday, on the eastern shore of Maryland with, the ever unassuming, Harold Baines. The great hitting player of the 80s' and 90s'(with the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, and Cleveland Indians). And the current 1st base coach of the Chicago White Sox.

Just a great guy, who hasn't forgotten where he came from (St.Michaels, Maryland). I had a really fun time running around in the golf cart for 2 days with him. Trying to keep my composure, have fun and trying to play decent golf at the same time.

Well, I guess, 2 outta 3 ain't bad. Ughh...I played horribly, though, on Saturday, it was just an awful day. 30+ mph winds, with heavy-steady rain for most of the back nine holes. Temps in the mid 50s'. Tough day!

But, we made the best of that 5 1/2 hour round. Though NOT in our scores. :-( Today was a complete opposite of yesterday. Beautiful blue skies. 65 degrees. Almost no wind to speak of. Much better round for all!

Anyway, it was just a great experience playing two days of golf with a SUPER nice, well-grounded guy... # 3 Harold Baines.

Thanks Harold! Hope we can tee it up again sometime. ;-)

Well,

actually, he was drafted right out of high school(St. Michaels High School) by the Chicago White Sox, in the 1977 amateur draft. He played for 22 YEARS!

And did you know that Harold ended the longest game in history with a homerun against the Brewers in 1984? That game was over 25 innings and 8 hours 6 minutes long! The bat Harold used is kept at the Hall of Fame.

Even the Rays organization is going to build a REAL outdoor field. It'll only need about 6000 seats though, because if the Rays lose they'll be right back to only the die hard fans of which there ain't many of.

Seriously, it bodes well for all of the MLB if the Rays win, even the Pink Hats will figure it out eventually if they follow the game religiously.

A new stadium is on hold because the citizens of this area are opposed to letting the little rich boys from New York have any more tax money for private endeavor until the Trop is paid for. They can't afford it themselves and if they push this thru the legislation like they did the Trop. they won't even need 6000 seats. Just enough for an owners box and the St. Pete city council.

HA HA !!! I'm really not as much of a traditionalist as I made it sound. I really don't mind the Trop, I actually LIKE the idea of the comfort for the fans AND the players.

It's a really quirky place to play, but they've made rules to govern the silly stuff that can happen, so it's equal for both teams.

I hope someone takes the dome idea and does the movable playing surface like they did for Cardinal Stadium (http://gosw.about.com/od/sportsandrecreation/ss/cardinalstadium.htm). Real grass, indoor climate control, with an opening dome for nice weather. The best of BOTH worlds!!

I am proud to agree with Vipercussionist on this matter. How in the world can you think this is not a sport.

From Wikipedia...
Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determiner of the outcome (winning or losing), but the term is also used to include activities such as mind sports (a common name for some card games and board games with little to no element of chance) and motor sports where mental acuity or equipment quality are major factors.

NOW who will be able to get to the top LEGITIMATELY and get Bonds out of there????

It's alright Viper. Hank will ALWAYS be on a higher level than Bonds.

Aaron is the TRUE homerun king! He had/has class and just let his God-given talent propel him to greatness...WITHOUT cheating.

as a Yankees fan I was ecstatic when the Yankees got A-Rod. Boy, how that changed! Right after he opted out I would have been just as ecstatic if the Yankees had let him go. We lose with him and we can lose without him and have less headaches doing it. The guy is a total headcase. How can someone with all that money and talent be so damned insecure and so useless in the post season?

And if he left his wife for Madonna then he's a damn fool as well. Madonna? Please! And now this steroid thing. I wouldn't be surprised if deep down he is happy he got caught because now the pressure of being the clean savior of baseball is off his back. He handles pressure like I handle burning coals with my bare hands. Even when he's supposedly telling the 'truth' he's full of crap. I'm sick of this guy and have no problem having the Yankees dump him. What a phony!

It would have been great for Baseball had he been clean and re-broke the record.

At least he didn't LIE about it like most of the others. Giambi just came clean and in no time his name was restored to normal.

The others like Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, McGuire and Palmeiro have sullied their names beyond repair, but their RECORDS still stand. And of course the effects of time will dull the urgency of the cheating they did to get there, almost making it legit. THAT'S what worries me!

In 20 years there will be no real way to TELL who was legit or not without research. And what 10 year old looking at the old stats will be researching that deeply, I'd say probably NONE!!

Sad as hell. I'll remember Hank, but the new generations will have to read deeply into things for the true story.

funny thing is I really wanted to like Alex but the more I saw and heard him I just got turned off by him. I wanted him to be the guy to be the all-time home run king, the clean home run king that is but now that's out the window. In my book Hank Aaron is the HR king and all these steroid fiends are simply making Aaron's accomplishments that much more exceptional. It's a shame what is happening to baseball.

I wonder how the Yankees will fair with all the money they've spent and now all of this added pressure to perform. They're gonna be under a MICROSCOPE for the entire season now, like it wasn't bad enough already. I feel bad for Girardi, the pressure will be ENORMOUS to bring home the title. They'll need a cap to make it more competitive. Not necessarily a salary cap, but a team spending cap, kind of like the NFL.

Big market teams like the Yanks, Angels and Red Sox with the big budgets POTENTIALLY can get all the best players (though it seems to not always work out for the best as the Yankees have shown and just MIGHT show again this year).

It would make for more competition throughout the teams.

OK, the season is well under way and the teams are building up steam for a run!

I'm kind of stunned to see the Yankees and their playing this year, they're NOT playing up to potential, they have no bullpen and if they don't pull it together it's going to be a waste of 1.5 BILLION dollars in the building of the NEW Yankee Stadium.

Could they have maybe taken 1.5 BILLION and repaired the OLD Yankee Stadium over time? You know, the Stadium with ALL the important baseball karma ever made in the history of baseball? Where there were people actually IN the seats rooting for the home team? Seems like just last year the Yankees had FANS in the seats at MOST of the games at home. This year the epic rivalry of the Boston Red Sox vs the New York Yankees gets only a smattering of fans in the "House That Ruth Didn't Build".

Seems like EPIC FAIL to me! Even as a Red Sox fan I would like to see the Yankees do a LITTLE better than this.

Where will baseball be without Yankees Red Sox?

Congrats to the Tampa Bay Rays for again proving they are for real and not an aberration of luck. They will most likely see the post season again this year their present record not withstanding. They still give the Red Sox fits, that's for sure!!

I expect the Dodgers from the NL west to be a MAJOR problem in the post season now that Manny has to prove himself again. We'll see how long he can keep THAT up! I feel REALLY good that Jason Bay has come to Boston and be a positive force in the Red Sox lineup displacing the Cancer that was Manny. Too bad, Manny is probably the MOST gifted hitter in baseball, but he'll always find a way to drag the team down eventually. Hopefully for the Dodgers he'll last the two years I predict he has left before he retires to spend all of the ridiculous money he's made for himself, ON himself. Maybe he'll do the right thing for those remaining two years and play the game right and finish his career looking good.

OK baseball fans, what's YOUR take on all of this? Any added stuff from YOUR perspective?

LET'S TALK SOME BASEBALL!! It's what we drummers DO to relax before and after playing drums!!

That new stadium is a joke, $2500 seats?? Are you kidding me did someone tell them there is a recession WTH?

Was watching Sox/Yankees game in Fenway (greatest park on the planet) a few weeks ago and Jeter hit a foul ball just over 1st base and this guy yells out "Hey thats a homerun in your park" LOL The whole section was cracking up...

I am pretty confident the Yanks will have to lower prices to get their real fans back in the seats.

I remember when beating the Yankees was a big deal. Does it men so much anymore? It seems the Rays are the formidable foe in the AL East. Standings be damned as of yet. It's always much different as the season goes on. Key players on different teams get hurt and it makes a difference in the standings as teams try to make the bench do the work of the everyday players.

The Red Sox have a heavy duty bullpen so far. It's been the difference, especially with Papi not hitting, Youk has been out, Dice-K still is out, Pedroia had a few days off with an injury, Lowell still is just getting by with the hip surgery and the shortstop position has been a crap shoot. It's been interesting to say the least, but the Red Sox are still doing alright. I'm hoping it all comes together soon and the REAL push will be on!!

It was a big deal because A.J Burnett was a Jay and was learning from the Doc but then bolted for the Yanks, unfortunately we got trounced last night.
The Redsox and Yanks are both still formidable but I think we get a few injured pitchers back soon and that will help out, all Cito wants is for the pitchers to keep them close for 6 innings and let the batters do the rest, a little relief and a close and Bob's your uncle. Sounds like American League Baseball to me. I'm sure that they will be competitive during the season but I can not expect them to land on top, if they do then that would be extra gravy. The Yankees are a close second and only one game back but the Jay's n' Ray's will be staying in back for a bit it seems.

Thank you, Papi, for all the wonderful memories. The '04 ALCS will be one of my happiest sports memories forever. And I salute you for all of your amazing contributions.

Now please sit down on the bench (or get sent down to Doube A and figure out whatever it is you call a swing). You are killing me. I keep watching, waiting, hoping you'll go 3-4 with a few dingers and I can say "See? He's fine!" but no. Night after night of 0-3's and 0-4's with 3 Ks and leaving 10+ on base. You are killing me. 6th in the lineup is no good. You need to leave the lineup. You make us a National League team (where the pitchers hit...)

Tito, please - everyone knows what you're doing - that you're loyal to your players to a fault, but eventually Theo's gonna have to force your hand. This is sad to the point of ridiculousness. Bill Simmons put it best when he said (and I paraphrase) "[it's] gotten to the point where it's like your son is the worst player on his little league team and you know it and you know all the other kids make fun of him. Just sad"

We are now tied for 1st with the Yankees - which is surprising considering we have an 8-man lineup and 7.5 players on the field (Nick Green are you kidding me? Can you please get to and stop a baseball please? The .5 missing depends on who is pitching...which leads to...)

Lester and Beckett have ERAs hovering around the 6.00 mark and Dice-K actually lowered his ERA by giving up 3 earned in 5 innings today... Wakefield (who I have always loved and defended) is the ace of the staff right now with 6 Ws and the only starter with an ERA below 4 (3.99). Papelbon decides (probably at the behest of his agent...) to change his mechanics in the offseason to "aleviate stress on his shoulder" and now he's blowing saves and giving up two-run homers every appearance... Penny has had great run support, and looks like some decent trade bait (great performance last time out while being sick)
I look forward to Smoltzy getting in there in June and we have to have Buchholz in there soon too, yeah? He's destroying AAA hitters now - he's definitely ready.

Being the admitted homer that I am - I made it a point to always take the Red Sox player in my fantasy leagues if they were available. (fortunately Papi was never available) and offensively - along with the other players from other teams - my offenses are all near the top - and they're all tops in Runs and Average - but damnit do *all of my pitching stats suck*...Ridiculous. I lead one league in Ks and other than that I'm at or near the bottom of the pile in Wins, and definitely at the bottom in ERA and WHIP...just horrendous... And not just my Sox guys - but Kazmir (what's up Kaz?) and everyone else on my roster... Oh - and Manny's on all of my teams somehow as well - gone for 50 games....F you, Manny...Enough fantasy...

Everyone's on Papi (as they should be) but Pedroia hasn't hit a home run since his first at bat of the season. Thankfully he's hitting about .340 and is is a defensive monster, but let's get a crack or two huh? (I actually benched him on one of my fantasy teams for a while because I also have Orlando Cabrera and Aaron Hill - who knew they'd be putting up these ridiculous #s?)

When Manny left we shoulda said "Adios" to Lugo as well. After we all knew he was a bust, I thought we kept him around because he and Manny were such good friends....Well...Manny's gone and we still know Lugo can't field, throw, hit, and he's not the speedster he once was...Not sure if I'd call him a "baseball player" anymore... More like "The pedestrian formerly called a baseball player" - like Prince!

You know how we became awesome in '04? We traded to upgrade our defense. We need to do that again. We need a really solid SS. Might've had one with Lowrie, but he's out for a while (originally "season ending surgery" but I thought I heard somewhere that he might be okay around August...?)

Good to see Tek coming alive at the plate.
Good to see Jacoby starting to reach some of that potential he teased us with when he first came up. 22 game hitting streak. Now what's up with the 6 caught-stealing's?

AND I LOVE YOU JASON BAY. You are everything I could want in a Red Sox player. Great hitter, great fielder - hustles, class act. Can we please sign you to a Forever deal? again: I love you.

Anyway - despite all of that - we're somehow in 1st (tied with the Yankees, who suddenly have a determined Alex Rodriguez). We crush at home and disappear on the road. Let's change our pre-game routines at the hotels, huh guys? Fortunately after Minnesota we get to beat up on the Blue Jays (that Cinderalla season lasted about a month, huh? 9 losses in a row) We need another series with the Yankees too - now that Rodriguez is back it'd be a nice wake-up call.

Thank you, Papi, for all the wonderful memories. The '04 ALCS will be one of my happiest sports memories forever. And I salute you for all of your amazing contributions.

Now please sit down on the bench (or get sent down to Double A and figure out whatever it is you call a swing).

MAN!! You got a lot going on in your post, a lot I AGREE with!!! Yeah, '04 was just about the greatest sports moment of all time, It doesn't get any better than that. I still get chills watching it. The only thing CLOSE was the '72 Bruins against the Blues, the Bobby Orr years, yeah, that was CLOSE bit still not as good.

I gotta say, Papi either figures it out, or he's gotta sit or rehab somewhere. The Red Sox HAVE to have a full 9 men playing their hearts out with SUCCESS in order to make this season happen. A single piece of dead wood is gonna KILL them eventually.

Yeah, the pitching has baffled me, two KILLER pitchers, Beckett and Lester are struggling BADLY, and from my point of view, for no REAL reason!! Unless something is being hidden, they're not HURT or SICK or anything, they're just SUCKIN'!! Dice-K has a most peculiar way of getting through a season, I don't LIKE it, but so far he's always gotten it done come end of the season. It's just tough to WATCH.

Shortstop . . . I LONG for the days of Orlando Cabrera or even Alex Gonzalez, especially Cabrera who seemed to swing a mean bat. But the steady and seemingly superhuman defense supplied by Gonzalez would be a massive improvement right now. With Lowell being a bit slower than normal yet, it's a bad thing to have BOTH pieces of that side of the infield not supplying the 100% coverage needed. I would never sit Lowell as he's EARNED his keep, even as he heals. But with three guys vying for Short, one on the DL, one not quite healed yet, and one too "Green" to make the grade it seems as though a permanent fix should be thought about here.

Manny?? I don't miss him at ALL!!! I'm surprised he never got his ass handed to him by another player in the Red Sox clubhouse. His hitting prowess aside, he IS a cancer. Good riddance.
All this team needs is 8 more Jason Bay's to take the field and we'd have a dynasty that would quit only at his retirement. Bravo to the Red Sox for THAT move!! my it come to pass that he stays and retires a Red Sox!

I'm lovin' that Tek is back, in full force, let's hope the long season doesn't take it's toll on his age.

Petey and Ellesbury are doing just fine, if this is as good as it gets from them, I'm OK with it. but I know Petey will swing better, he's a streaky hitter, so it'll come out in the wash.

However, all of that being said . . .
I still trust that Tito and Theo will figure it all out. They don't have a 100% record of doing EVERYTHING right, but I'm willing to put MY trust in them. They're the ones who brought TWO rings to us in 4 years. I would have NEVER thought it possible, and they pulled it off. I'd be happy with a ring every FIVE years or so, wouldn't you? That seems a reasonable expectation, NO?? Well, we all gotta relax a LITTLE bit as really, they're ahead of schedule a bit, so, not to worry, not to worry.

Well,

If anyone knows me personally, they know that I CAN'T STAND THE YANKEES!! Hate's a strong word, but you can use it here to explain how I feel about them.

But...

I gotta give it to Derek Jeter. He's accomplished a great feat. Becoming the leading hitter in Yankees history. And that's saying something. Gehrig, DiMaggio, Ruth, Mantle, Mattingly, etc...ALL have less hits as a Yankee than DJ.

Among all his other accolades, you just gotta give it up for Derek Jeter. And as a Cal Ripken disciple, my hat's off to you DJ.

Well Done!! ;-)

Although the Yankee fans are glad they won, they are just as bored with it as the rest of us. time for a salary cap.

I agree, a cap is needed for sure, though most Yankee fans I talk with have a THOUSAND reasons why they don't WANT or don't NEED a salary cap. A THOUSAND rationalizations, a THOUSAND excuses.

The ONLY reason a Yankee fan WOULDN'T want a cap would be . . . NOT having the huge advantage by being able to BUY their own all-star team.

Unless the entire league is renamed the Yankee league, talent had better be spread around a bit.

The Yankees don't have "fans", just a very very expensive bandwagon.

The Phillies will get 'em next year!
