i know this sounds really strange but when i am playing i get more fatigued in my triceps and upper arm then in my forearms or wrists. it seems mostly to happen when im playin on my hi-hats or anything where i have to hold my arms in the air a little bit for a longer period of time. my hats arent too high either... my arm is at a 90 degree angle and i feel very relaxed when playing but my tricep still gets fatigued and it gets hard to hold my arm up for very long. this is kind of a weird problem i know but i just cant get over this and i have been playing with it for quite a long time now and it has become a bad thing in the way i play and i am worried i wont be able to fix it because ive been playin so long like this.

so if any1 has any suggestions on how i can fix this that would be awesome. i dont know if its something with my technique or what but no matter wat it is i want to fix it somehow. :) so if any1 could leave me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

thx a ton.

Are you holding your arm up from the shoulder or from the elbow? Are you hitting with your entire forearm instead of your wrist? Your elbow should be fairly close to your body and your stroke should emanate from your wrist.

Wavelength hit the nail on the head. The trick here is to position your kit right. Get the bass drum, snare drum, ride cymbal and hihat (for almost any drummer these are the most important elements of your kit) in a position where you can play those four without having to extend (or pull back) your arm; you should be able to reach and play those with your upper arms hanging more or less loosely alongside your torso. Then position everything else as much as possible within that same reach, but it's ok if you have to lift your upper arms a little bit when hitting toms, crashes etc.
