Is there a way to remove a silk screen or printed drum company logo from a bass drum head without damaging it? Thanks for the help.
If it's a black head you can cover it with black gaffer or duct tape?
That's all I've seen. Alternatively... Shop for a new head. Turns out Ludwig don't supply branded heads in Melbourne, so when I wanted a branded head I had to go without.

I have a smooth white Remo head that I took the Remo logo off with lighter fluid. I put a small amount on a paper towel and rubbed gently. Took about 5 minutes.

That's an ink logo, and yes, that does work.
For a silk-screened logo (if it's raised), you can carefully remove the logo with a razor blade. You've got to put the head on a drum fairly tight (so the head is perfectly flat--no wrinkles), and basically "shave" the logo off. Always have the razor in flat contact with the head so you don't poke a hole accidentally. Imagine taking paint off of a window with a blade...that's how you want to approach this.
Of course, allmaple, if you're underage, I didn't just recommend this to you. Razor blades should be only be used with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, and caddywumpus enterprises inc. assumes no responsibility for damages to person(s) or property(s).

Thanks fellas, after a closer inspection it might be an ink logo. I'll try your suggestions and post the results.
PS: caddywumpus thanks for the disclaimer, It made me think of my younger years. (40 years ago) LOL
Regards to all.

I thought removing logo's was covered under the same law against removal of labels from a mattress. Careful, you might get a visit from the Sheep Who Wear Black Sunglasses & drive Black Suburbans. You've been warned....

I just recently got an Aquarian Classic Clear White Gloss head for the front of my 24" bass drum, and i used a bit of paper towel with some nail polish remover on it, came off straight away, no fuss.
Wash it down with soapy water around the old logo area, and then dry, Job Done. :)

Does that leave the white coat on the head unharmed? Also, has anyone tried it on a coated white Evans head? Specifically a 22" G1. :)

I thought silkscreen was ink or paint. Either way lighter fluid will take it off.

Yes and Pillows, and sofa cushions etc. So be careful. Be very, very, careful.
