I have these Hemisync CD's. I have used them since 1990.

I find that when you practice drums with a metronome and these combined, well its just amazing how fast you zone and can get improved meter. I try to set my metronome for mutilples or harmonics of the Schumann Resonance (vibration of the earth) which is close to the Theta/Alpha brain wave range. Its the most profound meditation that is very powerful to improve your meter and your creativity by organizing your brainwaves and hemispheres.

It causes a focused and a coherent mind by creating hemisphere syncronization with the binaural beat application to the mind, via the ears and headphones. It is a powerful tool to go from random brain wave activity to bilateral hemisphere syncronization. Your ears can only hear from about 30hz and up. Robert Monroe found that you could induce lower frequencies by playing two different frequencys to the brain that when subtracted were at the frequency desired, ie to achieve 7hz play 400hz in one ear and 407hz in the other. The brain will be unable to focus on either and the brain will entrain to the difference between the two, in this case 7hz or Alpha.
Hemi-Sync with Fractals, grap the headphones and check it out.

Cheers
I also listen to Sacred Chants that resonate at the proper frequency and hand drum rudiments

I've heard of this type of stuff before and I know a bit about brainwaves etc.I find it very interesting that you use this. How much do these cost?

This is great. I checked out the links. I like to sit on my back deck and listen to the natural sounds of my neighborhood when I meditate. I'm going to try mixing in Hemisync sounds the next time that I do this. I began using meditation about five years ago to help me with serious stress problems that I had that led me to prescription abuse and a mild stroke. Through meditation and exercise I have learned to control stress issues and blood pressure without the need for medication. I can see how playing the drums while listening to Hemisync could be beneficial.

The CD's are reasonably priced at about $19,
I like this one called Higher:
Delicate, ethereal tones blend with Hemi-SyncŪ to focus you inward - to the source of creation. Enjoy a deep, sustained meditative state as the entrancing music of Higher transports you to illuminating levels of awareness. Use Higher for expanding awareness through musical imagery and self-exploration; for deeper, more profound meditation; or simply for musical enjoyment.

Interesting. I wonder if there are any studies out there that evaluated the results of hemi-sync when practicing a musical instrument. I did a short search, but maybe someone has researched it a bit more.

This should clear the whole thing up???

Thanks for the replys. I am very aware of specific things that help with timing training. This really seems to improve my performance with a metrone. I hope others find it worth their while to invest $19 and try this out.

Looks interesting. junglelord, is this the one you used when you practiced? I briefly browsed their website. They have quite a large collection of CDs. Which other CDs would you recommend?

I try to set my metronome for mutilples or harmonics of the Schumann Resonance (vibration of the earth) which is close to the Theta/Alpha brain wave range.
This global electromagnetic resonance phenomenon is named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann who predicted it mathematically in 1952. Schumann resonance occurs because the space between the surface of the Earth and the conductive ionosphere acts as a waveguide. The limited dimensions of the Earth cause this waveguide to act as a resonant cavity for electromagnetic waves in the ELF band. The cavity is naturally excited by energy from lightning strikes. Schumann resonance modes are observed in the power spectra of the natural electromagnetic background noise, as separate peaks at extremely low frequencies (ELF) around 7.8, 14.3, 20.8, 27.3 and 33.8 Hz.
The fundamental mode of the Schumann resonance is a standing wave in the Earth-ionosphere cavity with a wavelength equal to the circumference of the Earth. This lowest-frequency (and highest-intensity) mode of the Schumann resonance occurs at a frequency of approximately 7.8 Hz. Further resonance modes appear at approximately 6.5 Hz intervals, a characteristic attributed to the atmosphere's spherical geometry. The peaks exhibit a spectral width of approximately 20% on account of the damping of the respective modes in the dissipative cavity. The eighth overtone lies at approximately 59.9 Hz.
Schumann resonances are used to track global lightning activity. Owing to the connection between lightning activity and the Earth's climate it has been suggested that they may also be used to monitor global temperature variations and variations of upper water vapor. It has been speculated that extraterrestrial lightning (on other planets) may also be detected and studied with Schumann resonances. Schumann resonances have been used for research and monitoring of the lower ionosphere on Earth and was suggested for exploration of lower ionosphere parameters on celestial bodies. Effects on Schumann resonances have been reported following geomagnetic and ionospheric disturbances. More recently, discrete Schumann resonance excitations have been linked to transient luminous events – sprites, elves, jets, and other upper-atmospheric lightning. A new field of interest using Schumann resonances is related to short-term earthquake prediction. Schumann resonances have evolved beyond the domain of geophysics where it initially began, and has since gained interest in medicine, from artists and musicians, as well as from fields such as bioenergetics[1], acupuncture[1], and psychobiology. The idea that naturally Schumann resonances, which are many orders of magnitude weaker than both the artificial fields in such studies and typical environmental fields, could yield similar effects is conjectural and highly controversial.
And, it makes you play funky!
So to set your metronome to multiples or harmonics of the Schumann Resonance, would that be specific tempos or tones from your metronome?
And what are some specific ones?
