Hey im using a swingstar kit
up till now im still using stock heads and i would like to change the snare one first
id prefer remo because its easier to get it here
i like a thucking sound and what should i use?
coated ambassadors, emperors or etc etc?
also how do you try out the heads without putting on the drums
i wish i could test all of em to know which is good
as for the toms and bass any recommendations? i dont like too much of a ring tone i like solid sounds

Coated Ambassadors for tom and snare batters, clear Ambassadors for tom resonants and a clear Ambassador Snareside for the snare's resonant side. Coated PS3 on both sides of the kick drum. Tune the toms low and you'll get all the thud you'll ever need, and you won't have to use thicker heads or muffling.

I would personally go with :
tom batters - Remo Coated Emperors
tom resos - Remo clear Ambassadors
snare batter - Remo Coated Ambassador
snare reso - Remo Hazy Ambassador Bottom Snare
bass batter - Clear Remo PS3
bass reso - (I just use the stock reso because personally I cut a hole in the thing anyway)

HI I have a Tama swingstar, and I too, want that deep sound you hear on albums.. I just changed out my floor Tom head to see how it sounded. Went to GC and the guy there recommended Evans over Remo (I think it's personal preference). I got coated EC2 Evans.. WOW ! Very nice, and I wish that I would have gotten one for each Tom. Good luck, but love mine! The other toms will be next!

Put a Emad on the kick and you will most definitely hear the difference in deepness. :)
The only EC2 coated I have tried so far is on my 12" & 14" snares. Toms have the EC2 clears. I really like them both.

well, I have a tama, and it's close to a swingstar, i guess... but anyways heads that work good are a coated ambassador, and for reso clear ambassador, I tuned each side a half turn after finger tight, then the reso one baby turn and it gives a really good deep sound, and you can work your way up by using that same technique.
as for snare, i'm not too educated about those. A Remo Ambassador Medium Snare head might do you good, it's warm and open, and with a clear ambassador or remo hazy or diplomat reso, it might sound very good.
But since you want a thump, well I dunno about that kind of sound, but a remo emperor x does my snare good. But thats just my taste.
For bass a remo powerstroke 3 clear does really well. You can even try a coated one.
oh well good luck!
