Hey mangs. So I play about 2-3 hours four times a week and lately I've been noticing my lower back has been aching. Now, I have been practicing my double kick quite a bit and single foot blasting as well. I try not to strain too much and make sure I am playing as smooth and relaxed as possible when doing this. Anyone else ever had something like this? I sit fairly high so my knees are at about a 120 degree angle . Any suggestions or insight would be great. It is making me worry:(

If you're sitting up high, this is probably why your back hurts. If you are sitting very high, lower your seat to a more comfortable, stable position. Stretch out your lower back before you play; Tada! I bet you your back pain will be non existent. Try it out.

Yea try adjusting the height of your throne. Also you may be sitting too close to the kick drum or drums, back up a little. Try that, if the pain continues then see a doctor.

Does your throne have a backrest? In addition to adjusting throne height I have found that a backrest is also important. I have had a bad back for about 25 years and the backrest really works for me.

i echo this post, because find the right height for your throne and distance from your drums is pretty crutial because playing comfortably allows you to play better.
