Hey all
Im having some problems with my double bass drumming. Where on the pedal is the best place to have your feet when doing double bass , like near the top , nearer the bottom or what? Because at the moment my feet are right at the top and using the upper part of foot only. Don't know if this is wrong or what. Also , how far away from your kit should you sit when double bassing?
Thanks!

When positioning your feet you shouldn't scrunch them all the way at the top, try keeping them in the middle closer to the bottom but not directly at the bottom. You have find your balance and where on the pedal gives you the best response. On the the throne positioning...Sit on the edge of the seat (so push the seat back a little) and lean forward more into the drums when double-pedaling. That gives more balance and I'm assuming you already play with the balls of your feet.

You might want to check out some videos online for help.

I'll just add in that your thighs should be angled down somewhat, and the bottom of your legs should be angled outward somewhat, just like weckl in this video...

Where you put your foot on the board is just like where you have the fulcrum with your hands, move your foot up and down the pedal and look for the spot where you get the most return for the least effort, this is normally 1-3 inches back from the beater.

try different throne hieghts and sitting on the edge doesnt work out for me, the middle of the seat is where i feel most balanced. if i sit to close to the edge its almost as if im working harder to lift my leg, but if it works for you go for it.
