I've been playing open handed for a little while now and I'll always get sore in my left hand from leading on the high hat. For those that play open handed, does this happen to anyone else, and when does this go away?

I've been trying to keep as relaxed as possible, but at some point I have to do what I need to to play 8th notes on the high hat.

obvious point is that if your left is weaker it needs more time to learn than the stronger hand, as well as something like any even know of practised hours to the strong hand...so yyes it is an uphill struggle but as you become more drum savvy you learn stuff like this faster through better practise but also being more i dont know recveptive in your brain from familiarity long as you're motivated but you should be
however my own thoughts - i had a lil of this and way ise e it is tha as soon as one gets the bsic cooridnation down, that coordination of playing openhanded and comes faster than fluency in said weaker hand...so because the being that coordinated is still new as well theres a lot for your brain to do at once its like having lots of new things open and running
but you cantotallydo it
just be paitnet and avoid hurtin urself at all costs
nothigns worse

You're left hand is working too hard. You need to develop the co-ordination in the fingers to take the strain off your wrist and arm. I've played open for two years and my left is as strong as my right...Get a pad or use a pillow and use your right hand to teach your left..Play 16ths and slowly build up speed..use an interloped method just as you would on the right...Remember...Every little muscle movement must be replicated...after a few months you'll notice vast improvement..take my word for it ;-)
