Pearl HiHat Stands - H-900 vs H-1000?

I'm looking to buy a new Pearl hihat stand to go with my Eliminator pedal. I prefer a 3 legged stand, so the H-900 and H-1000 seem like the best choices. Can anyone tell me whether the H-1000 is worth the extra $40 street price difference, compared to the H-900?

If there is a difference worth $40 I don't see it.

The dirty little secret is that the 900 series Pearl hardware is essentially the same as the 1000 series but with less fancy cosmetics.

the only differences i can see that don't seem to be asthetic are that the bit that joins the footboard is different, and the h900 looks sturdier. thats it!!
