I'm having a hard time playing snare music.

Mainly because I can't hear the metronome over my snare, so I have a hard time keeping up with it. With rudiments, it's easy because I can just look at the metronome.

You shouldn't be hearing it over the snare. When you are playing on top of the click it should "disappear".

What you are trying to do is keep on top of the click, if you hear the click then you need to adjust your pulse (unless it is on a rest). If you really want to hear the click over everything, you will have to use headphones.

Yeah, that's what I thought I was supposed to be doing. I just needed someone's opinion to see what the best option was.
