Hey Guys,
I got a chance to play Tim's magnesium drum the other day. I was in on the GN drum tour and compared it to my Ludwig bronze and ludalloy models. These were filmed on my canon s400 camera, not too bad of quality. Both clips were cut a little short, but they turned out okay.

Thanks Mike. I was trying to keep it simple and not too busy, so that the snare would stand out.

You totally inspired me to practice my grooves last night.
Man, you had a deep pocket going.
That is talent my friend. And, that snare is really great. Do you own the snare?

Hey Mike,
The snare is owned by member "crazyhorse", aka Tim McKenzie. He actually makes these shells, so if you are really interested, PM him. He does great work. Thanks again for the compliment. You know, in my early progressive days, it was always about the chops. But now that I've matured some (gotten older, lol), I feel that it's all about the "groove", or "feel" that's what is most important.

Hey Fred,
Thanks for the compliment. I thought all the snares sounded good also. I'm really digging this Bronze Supra. I'm still hoping to get over to your place soon to check out your arsenal. Take care.

Yea... good ole Maggy, she gets around. =)
Nice playing my friend! One of these days you need to play the thicker Mag I built for a guy out that way.

Hi guys this is a bit of an unrelated topic bt i have a school project to make a snare so obviously I need as much help as I can get. so if you can answer these three q's that would be great :
1) What do you look for in a good snare drum?
2) Is there anythingyou would like to see on a snare drum which you haven't yet seen?
3) Are there any extra tips or pieces of advice that you can give me for approaching this mammoth task?
Please email me on : makingasnare@live.com
Thankyou very much

I'd pay the $20 to be in the Drum Labs... then head over to http://www.drumfoundry.com and get the layout mat and any other supplies you might need.
Start with a simple keller shelled one... They sound GREAT.
