Hey guys
Just wondering if anybody has played/tryed out or has a Black Panther Steel Snare drum.
I was wondering the genre they are suited for. I mean , would it be good for Heavy Metal drumming (like Slipknot , Metallica)? If not , could you reccomend another snare?
Cheers

P.S : http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/mapex-bpst4551/70331 <--- The Snare im on about.

Also , whats the main differences between a 14x5 snare and a 14x6.5 snare?

Thanks again!

Yeah Black Panthers are really quality snares. All of them. Steel is bright and loud so would work really well for your metal playing. It should be versatile and sensitive. Personally I'd go for the 6.5 snare for a bigger more powerful sound. The 5" will be a little more sensitive and stuff but the depth 6.5 snares give are great. I play a 14x6.5 Hammered Bronze BP myself (and many others in the BP line in the shop) it's never let me down in 3-4 years now.

Thanks alot mate!

Would the metal snares be Too overpowering and loud do you think?
I mean , i have a pearl export stock snare , so im hoping it will be better than that , which is very likely.
With a 6.5 inch snare , would you still be able to do drum rolls etc easily?
Also , would you advise the joey jordison snare or a black panther steel snare for heavy metal?
Thanks again

If you're worried about losing sensitivity with a 6.5" snare, just go with a 6" or maybe a 5". You'll be happy with the either joey or the black panther steel, they're both really good snares. And a snare cant really be tooooo loud. and loud is really good for metal. So i say just choose one, whichever is cheaper, which will probably be the BP steel.

oh and possibly physically trying them out would be the best option.
