Hola guys.

After the fun and relative success of building Annie, see attached picture, I've decided im going to complete the Gretsch Bass Drum shell i have in the studio. I ve decided to go for a concert bass drum 22x14, have got all the parts, (haven't figured on whether to stain or wrap tangerine glass) but i need to plug the holes for the lugs at the front of the drum, fair enough except ill need to retouch the dowel plugs on the inside to match the silver sealant.

Anyone got any idea which product matches the colour?
Could i use any matching silver, seeing as it will be a minimal amount of colour and shouldn't damage the sound?

Specs for Annie:
1963 Gretsch rack-tom in original champagne sparkle wrap.
gretsch badge, key holder and throw off and strainer donated from a 70's COB snare
Original lugs from ebay
Yamaha vintage wooden hoops.

I have heard people say it's "supposedly" some sort of boat sealer...at least that's what I heard.

Doubt that's true though...only because that would be too easy.

If you are just touching up the holes, you could try a Mobile Home repair store for Silver ROOF SEALER.

It seemed along the same lines when I covered a roof with it along time ago, and is aluminum in color.
I remember because I thought to myself "this looks like Gretsch silver".

I don't recall that it was real thick stuff either.

If theres a Modular Model Home place in your area, they may have something like that silver sealer (you could maybe just get a small cup of it free too.), or can tell you where to get it.

Or maybe just something like Silver Testors model paint might work for touch ups.

Hobby/Craft shops also sell a pen that is metallic silver that would probably match up pretty close too, and those are only a couple bucks.

And...Tangerine Glass looks really cool....

Good luck with your project!

ah good shout on the silver pens from hobby craft. ill get that checked out and let you know how it goes.

am really in love with the tangerine glass. i saw one on ebay just today whereby someone has put ruby diamonds over it. am in love with that too!

all i need is a 14" floor tom shell to cover in tangerine glass. Anyone got one lying around?

Thought not/. ;)
