I just bought this kit w/ hardware yesterday from Toronto, and transferred the cymbals (which are actually decent) from my old Pearl Exports, and after playing the kit for just three minutes i'll never go back. Here are the specs.....behold!!!

Drums
Mapex Saturn Studioease 6 piece drum kit (new for '08) in Antique Ivory Lacquer Finish
22x18" bass drum
10x8" rack tom
12x9" rack tom
14x14" floor tom
16x16" floor tom
14x5.5" snare drum

Cymbals
Sabian AA Medium 21" ride
Zildjian K (not sure, but it has the engraving) Heavy Ride 21", turned into sizzle ride
Sabian B8 16" Crash
Zildjian A 12" Splash
Zildjian K Custom Dark Splash
Zildjian A Custom/Z Dyno Beat 13" Hi-Hats

Here are some invigorating photos, I'd love to hear feedback on the kit, good or bad, so have at it.

The pics aren't working, but it sounds very promising.

Try to upload the Pics to an external hoster (like imageshack) and post using [IMG] tags.

Using a hosting website like Tom Sawyer said is pretty easy to do. I use photobucket and it works fine.

How big are the dimensions of the photos? Did you get a message about the attachment not working when you tried to upload it? The max image size for attachments is 1200 x 1200 for jpeg's if that's the file format. For other formats it's listed at the bottom of the "manage attachments" window.

Find a way to upload those pics.... 'cause these drums sound very attractive and i'd love to see them!!

Here's a public link to the album of the drums that I posted on facebook.

Looking good bro. I like the natural finish, and I'll bet it looks way better in person! I'm sure you're amazed with the sound compared to your export...what is your take on how they sound?

There is literally no comparison between the two sets, especially in musicality and resonance, and the Saturns are just more fun to play, period.

Gorgeous finish. Mapex makes some really good drums. Looks like you can have a lot of fun playing these drums.

Nice traps man!

I like Mapex's non-intrusive mounting method - no need to drill all those holes!

thanks for all the feedback, guys! It's nice to know some people share my love for that finish and kit. And to zambizzi, I agree about the mounting system. Even the floor tom mounts are independent, which gives even their low fundamental tones a real note and resonance.
