I apologize in advance if this is a painfully insipid inquiry, but a long while ago I was privy to a television program which showcased a phenomenal drummer whom they heralded as the "best contemporary classical drummer", and he played with two other drummers after playing with an orchestra. It was transcendentally magnanimous, but unfortunately I have forgotten his name, and all of my searching on the Internet would suggest that this event was merely a dream of mine.

I realize this is extremely vague, but if anyone has any idea who this might be or where I could find info on these "classical" drummers, I would be most sincerely grateful for it.

Elden C. "Buster" Bailey was the snare drummer for the New York Philharmonic for a long time and is incredible. Saul Goodman was the Timpinist for the New York Phil for longer than Bailey and I have no idea if it was the two of them but they are worth checking out and are masters of classical percussion.

I should have made myself more clear I suppose. It is not the traditional "classical percussionist" I am looking for. These guys were playing on fully decked out drum kits, and playing everything on them [all at once too mind you].

Maybe I did just dream it all.

Carl Palmer with a symphony orchestra maybe?
