I'm having trouble downloading DW videos. I have broadband internet and i have QuickTime installed on my machine. I have never had trouble viewing anything. But when I try to watch DW videos, I get a QT logo and a long, long wait followed by a broken image/video icon.

Is it just me?

The Drummerworld Videos don't work?

Why then i have 25.000 views and downloads a day and so many comments about the videos, if nobody can't see??

Do you have the actual version of Quicktime? (7.5)

Are there also some members with problems or do the videos run correct - hopefully...??

Bernhard,

My post was not intended as a slam against DW, but as a cry for help. If the problem is mine, I want to know what it is. Am I also registered as one of those 25,000 per day downloads, although I can't view anything? Could it be that thousands of people are experiencing the same difficulty?

I'm not trying to cause trouble, I'm just saying that I can't view the videos. If someone has some insight, I'd be glad to hear it.

Sincerely,

m1ck

ok, please post:

- what system exactly (Windows vista or....., Mac OS 10 15.3 or or or.....

- which version of Quicktimeplayer (7.5 hopefully - if not update before.!!!!!)

Otherwise it makes no sense. So many people are discussion the videos...so they must work in most cases!

Thanks

Ok I need Quiktime 7.5? Problem is... that s about $25 I dont have at the moment.Yeah you may laugh but I am currently going through a home foreclosure. Anyway, when I called Apple they said my current 4.0 should work fine. I can hear the videos' sound fine...just no good video. Can I get 7.5 for free anywhere? Just trying to get all that I can out of this site and what it offers.

The Quicktime Player 7 for Mac and Windows IS FREE

Only Quicktime Pro is $ 25.00 (for more features, downloading, editing....)

Check out your version - mac or pc and download the appropriate Free player here somewhere:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

So again, if the videos don't work, which version you have?

Please give also feedback, if it works.....thanks a lot

No problems here. Whenever the videos have not worked for me a quick update of Quicktime worked perfectly.

One time though I had to un-install it, reboot and then install a fresh version for it to work.

(Thanks Titan - good to hear - Bernhard........)

Updating it was the first thing I tried, and I guess I assumed that it would install the latest version. Apparently it just updated the old one. I had to download and install 7.5 from the website.

I feel kinda stupid. And yes, I graduated from college with a computer science minor.

I can't download either - Vista Home Premium.

Shoulda used Windows Media Player. I can rarely get Apple-based programs to work, although I must admit I don't have much experience with them as I avoid Apple and Mac and i-anything whenever possible.

There is a Free Quicktime Player for Windows! With Media Player you loose the quality.

I tried downloading the 7.5 but for some reason my computer would not accept it. I am having a few other PC problems too though- hence my "computer help" thread in the off-topic lounge. Anyone out there with a little patience, advice?

What's exact the problem with Quicktime Player, problems with the download or with installing?

For playing in the browser: Try QT Lite.
http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/filepilot/windows/multimedia/video/quicktimealternative/qt_lite/qtlite260.exe
http://www.codecguide.com/qt_lite.htm

Local player alternatives (after download):

a) Try Quicktime Alternative, which is the MediaPlayer Classic with Quicktime Codecs 7.50.61.0.

http://codecpack.nl/quicktimealt260.exe
http://www.codecpackguide.com/quicktimealt.htm

b) Get ffdshow. It's a media decoder which encodes almost every codec. Once installed every player uses it. I can play every type of video with every player on my computer.

http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_beta5_rev2033_20080705_clsid.exe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ffdshow

c) Get VLC as additional player. It has an integrated encoder and plays everything. If VLC doesn't play it, the video should be corrupt. But I use it only in addition, my main player is MediaPlayer Classic, there I like more the user interface und controls.

Hi 007Schneider - hopefully we will meet in Gutenstetten?

Why do you propose all this alternatives - why is Quicktimeplayer not the first choice for you?

Do these other players also play the movies in the browserwindow as they should?

I just want to keep things simple...it's meant for us drummers....

The short answer: QT Lite IS original Quicktime, but only the browser plug-in. No difference in the browser from Quicktime Player, all clips are working fine. So the installation is simpler than whole Quicktime Player. ;)

I distinguish between playing in the browser and from local drive. The a-b-c suggestions were for playing from local drive (didn't know what was the problem, so I gave some solutions for both). The free Quicktime Player still has a lack of features. But ok, it has fullscreen view now.. wow, after thousands of years... ;)
If I play a video from hard disk I want to have at least two things: To skip back and forward with the mouse wheel und to set the volume with my back and forward mouse buttons. This works very fine with MediaPlayer Classic, in VLC not so good, in Quicktime Player no chance to set those things.

You ask me what I do in two month? Hey, at the moment I don't know what I do next week... ;) But I think we'll meet in the Frankenland.
