Just a photo of the new A's and a small change in my set-up. Moved the 8 inch
tom all the way to the right and moved the 10 and 12 to the left. I don't use the 8 as much but am still able to play a right-handed single stroke roll and then a left hand on the 10 inch and still do a descending tom roll to the 12 and then the 14. Just feels better and lets me use the bigger toms, 10, 12, 14 as I would like.

It's looking good, extremely comfortable, but you have just opened up a whole new thought about the Renowns for me.

I just noticed now that the mounts for the toms go halfway around the drum. This puts a minimum of about an inch between them, not good. I want my toms almost touching. I've also been hearing things about the hardware not being so super-duper. I also really want 45 degree BE. All these new doubts about the Renowns, I'm starting to have doubts about buying them. I've been looking at used SC Bubinga kits, I guess I'm really going to need some alone time with some Renowns before I buy them.

How are you liking the Evans on the Gretsch?

G2 over G1 is what I'm using and I really like the sound.
Have you played them? Why 45 instead of 30 degree bearing edges if you get the sound you want??

Because someone said 45 degree edges were better.... When truthfully on ply drums it's going to make VERY little difference since it's such a thin shell anyways.

Why the A's over the old cymbals?! That better be a steambent maple snare ;)

Since our President was nice enough to send me 600.00 on my birthday, I decided to try some Zildjian A's. And yes that is Steambent Willie. I'm lovin' it.

The tweaks look great. Very tight and comfortable.

Those jam blocks are a nice touch, and I see the A ride already has a "sweet spot". Nice setup.
