Hello,

I just made my deposit to Unix for a 14 x 7 Bubinga snare. No turning back now!!! Will be 1/2 inch thick (I think).

Obviously 10 lugs with a 42 wire snare. Will be a fade of some sort to natural bubinga in the middle.

I am debating on diecast or S hoops.

Francios told me 4 to 8 weeks. I am hoping he will post pictures here and send me a couple photos also.

Additionally, I am going to find out what colors would look good with a fade into bubinga.

And, I do not care in the least that my snare will not match my DW. I am planning on purchasing 3 more pieces within the next 8 months. A 24 x 18 (I would go 26, but I do not think he can) 13 x 9 or 14 x 9 and 16 x 16 or 16 x 18.

I will have a four piece kit when I am done. Who knows? I might change the dimensions of the kit when I make the purchase.

I am so friggin excited people!!!

That's awesome, the "Bonham Sizes" feel great when playing

I know.

If he can do a 26, I will for sure go Bonham sizes. If not, I might still but with a slightly smaller rack tom.

I am so incredibly excited.

Not even a choice. S-Hoops all the way (S=Safety BTW). Why wouldn't you wnat to protect your investment?

Ya think there could be trouble re-cutting stave bearing edges? Why chance it?

Nice, Mike. I'm saving up money to have Francois make me a Walnut snare for jazz work, so I can sympathize with your excitement, though my excitement is on lay-away until I gather up my funds!

Just to echo a vote for S-Hoops: I own a Pearl steel piccolo 3x13 snare that I've had for five years now. That snare comes with flanged hoops. Trying to get a clear, crisp, tight sound was hard, and the rim clicks were HORRIBLE. A few months ago, I put S-Hoops on the Pearl snare and it tunes much better. Plus, the rim clicks and shots are now outstanding: extremely clear and cutting.

I like die-cast hoops a lot, but S-Hoops probably might be your safest investment. They work great.

S Hoops it is then.

Thanks!!!

S hoops are cheaper, too, aren't they? S hoops rock!!

I don't really like the sound of a fade from a color into natural... for me I either like it to be natural or color finished. Natural would look great, though.

+1. 100% impossible to have another drummer hit your edges if you ever get put in that bad position, and they're excellent for saving your sticks, the best I've found. Every kit should come standard with S-Hoops.

I think I was the only one to suggest this in your previous thread. Great minds think alike! (or dull ones, you decide, lol)

Bubinga is such a beautiful wood, don't go for anything over the top, you must let its true beauty shine. Maybe a some sort of a fade from a medium stain to a lighter stain?

Make sure it's black chrome hardware!

Very cool.

Nothing like a new snare to brighten one's day. I'll look forward to seeing the pics and hearing the sound clips.

My buying days have been put on hold for a few months. My wife quite her job last fall and enrolled in nursing school. Sadly she's run out of money so I'm working 6 10 hour shifts a week and selling on ebay to make ends meet. She graduates in Sept. It'l be tight, but worth it in the end.

Then I can go crazy again.

I most certainly will.

Eventually, I will have a Unix kit that matches.

I cannot wait.

It is like Christmas.

It is going to be a long, long, long 4 to 8 weeks.

Did you get a kit, or a snare, or both!!!

Man, I am so excited for you.

I actually talked on the phone with Frank today. What a GREAT guy. I was so impressed with him. He truly cares about his customers.

I am glad his business is doing well!!!!

I cannot wait to find out what you did get. A snare, or a kit???

Congrats Zambizzi!!! We do have similar interests.
