For all the vintage lovers out there, I ´ve catched the disease!
I´m in the search for a 60´s-70´s 3 ply with reinforcment rings set. Unfortunately, I live in argentina and those babies are practically unavailable here. I´m searching ebay and other places in the net. Any help?
I also have a question about Ludwigs standards. Were these cheaper only because of the hardware, finishes, etc. or do they actually [I]sound[I] cheaper? Is the shell construction the same as in the classics? if it is maybe i can get a better deal for them. I am going for sound, i don´t care about cosmetics...any suggestions?

If you don't care about looks, figure out what sizes and how many pieces you want...and put together a Frankenstein/rat kit. Plenty of orphan drums on eBay. Your shipping charges to South America are probably gonna cost more than the drums. Standards were made with the same shell. Clubdate shells are also the same 3 ply shell, but centerlugs. And you can find plenty of old marching drums, again, same shell. 1976 is the cut-off date. That's when Ludwig went to the 6 ply.
