So I have a Slingerland Spitfire kit (which I guess was supposed to be a "tre cool" signature kit," even though he played a radio king) I stripped the shells and stained/polyurethaned them and they look nice, but the sound is on the o.k side. Does anyone know what ind of wood this kid is made out of? If i was to try to sell, what do you think would be a fair price (on craigslist), as I think I want to upgrade/sidestep to a gretsch catalina club set.

Ok, so they are mahogany shells. This is the same thing the gretsch catalina club is made of, so would going to the gretsch be an upgrade? I feel I need a bit of an upgrade, not huge as I only play small clubs, but I just completed my cymbals (all zildjian K) and now its time to move up in drums,

any suggestions?
