I moved this over to the General Discussion as it was getting buried from last night.
First, again, I thank my son for this great Fathers Day gift.
This was one rocking concert.
Billy Squier, Gary Wright, Edgar Winter, Hamish Stuart, and Colin Hay, made one fantastic band. Drumming for this group and this tour is Greg Bissonette (bee-son-ay).
The show started with a few familiar Ringo faves, and Ringo sung Beatles songs.
Then Ringo introduced each member and the band played a song made famous by each.Billy Squier, Stroke, Edgar Winter, Frankenstein, Colin Hay, from men at Work, we come from Down Under, Gary Wright, Dream Weaver. All were great and each member complimented the band well. Greg Bissonette was solid, and loud, on every song, and really seemed to fit the band and the music. He must use a lot of cymbals. At that point the band left the stage and came on one at a time for solos. The highlite was Edgar Winter
who began on the piano with a classical number and blended that into the blues, Tobacco Road. This guy is a genius. Keyboards, saxophone, singing, Timbales on Frankenstein, just a real rocker and all round musician extraordinaire. Ringo showed a great sense of humor, humour for our Brit members, and had the audience on its feet most of the night.
The end was quite comical. He said, "That was our last song. But instead of walking off stage and standing in the dark, and knowing that you know we are off stage standing in the dark, and making a lot of noise to get us to come back out, we'll just do it now."
Absolutely Hilarious.
My camera took crappy photos from 27 rows back, so I won't bother with those, but I did get one small 67 second movie which is posted on Youtube if you care to watch. It too is a bit shaky bur for an old fart who waited 40 years to see this guy, it will be a great memory. Enjoy and if you ever get the chance check out his All Starr band. The variety is great and well worth the 2.5 hour, no intermission show.
