I've located a used set of Sonor drums I'm interested in and wondering if anyone can give me more scoop on 'em.

The owner says he bought them around 2004-2005 (in Canada). They're a blue sparkle and the badge says only 'Special Edition'. The kit contains a 14" snare, 12" suspended tom, 14" and 16" floors and a 22" kick.

I'm curious what 'line' if any they came from, construction, approx original price, etc.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

funny that you mention that, i saw one of these kits the other day and i was wondering the same thing. I was thinking that they are similar to, if not the same as the 3005 series.

Yeah. My research so far seems to sorta point to that. I've emailed Sonor the question as well.

They definitely seem to be more 'mid-level' based on construction and finish.

Sonor Special Edition kits tend to be from the 300x series. There have been special edition kits through the years 3001, 3003, 3005, 3007, etc...

The current special edition kits are KILLER! Orange sparkle to black sparkle fade lacquer with chrome hardware OR red sparkle fade to black sparkle fade with black hardware. The sparkles aren't the bigger typical sparkles from the Force line either. NOPE! Sonor stepped it up and are using the same finishes for the limited edition kits that the SQ2 kits use. HELL YEAH!

I was under the impression that they were derived from the 20XX line. Counting the lugs should provide a good indicator.

I can't believe it....i've been looking for this exact kit for months now! I live in Canada, and if anyone could direct me to where I might be able to pick up one of these kits, I could probably have it shipped. Thanks for any help !

Hi

I know where there is a Sonor 3007 special edition (orange sparkle fade) in the UK. I'm told it's one of the last ones in country that hasn't been bought! I played it in the store to trial the 3007 sound. But I went for the 3007 Autumn Fade (I like add ons, so Ltd Eds are not a good idea for me). The sizes are 8, 10, 12, 14. 20. 14 snare.

It looks incredible!

Let me know if you want the contact details and I'll post them here!

Cheers

Did they not tell you the special edition comes in Autumn Fade as well?

I just got an add on tom for my sons Autumn Fade kit. I could not get the regular 3007 in time for his birthday but the had an Autumn Fade SE 16 x 16.

I’m not sure what city you’re in but call Long & McQuade anywhere in Canada and they can get you all the details. If you’re in Ottawa call Dave’s Drum Shop.
