That's awesome man, enjoy it! I saw him once thinking I better see him while I had the chance because he was eighty and not likely to be performing much longer. That was four years ago...

Aaaah I'm jealous! What a master of the set. He has such a great feel no matter who he plays with. Have fun, it's gonna be awesome no doubt.

I saw Roy a couple weeks ago when he was here in Boise - what a great experience it was! The fluidity and musicality of his playing was incredible...effortless for such a master. Great entertainer too...he has a great sense of humor and his age obviously has had no impact on his energy.

What a night. How was it? I can't put it into words. Well I can try. The Norwalk jazz festival was awesome. There was two stages so that every time a group stop playing, the audience didn't have to wait for the next one to start. There was smooth jazz, contemporary jazz, Traditional jazz and thrown in some nice R & B sounding jazz vocals as well. Great groups like Pieces of a Dream and Damon Grant were there and they sounded superb.
But they saved the best for last. I have to go to Mr Haynes hometown and check his birth certificate because I don't believe his age. He came on stage looking like my father, surely not my grandfather. And what energy. "Give it up", he told the crowd after they performed a song. "I said give it up!", he yelled again. It's good if you can do 250 bpm on double bass pedals or win the record for most strokes, but if your not into jazz music, Music that Roy has been playing for hmmm hmmm years, you have to get into it! My girlfriend mentioned how he kind of was swinging his shoulders (and using them) as he played. Mr Haynes was literally dancing as he played, not only was he playing the groove he was feeling it. Whether you play country, rock or metal (which I also enjoy), you must see the great Mr Haynes play. And you will because he is not stopping and is at the top of his game. I hope the pictures came out. Thanks sweetheart for telling me about Roy!

Wow, that's incredible that you had the chance to see him perform. Many great musicians are passing away so it's good to get out there and see them live while you still can.
