Hey guys and gals,

What do you think of this snare?

I am going to be selling my Craviotto 13 x 5 and would be replacing it with this.

The Craviotto is just to small and likes a higher tuning range than I prefer.

Anyway, do any of you have experience with a similar snare drum?? Also on my list is a BB 14x6.5.

Here is the link. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions.

Thank in advance my friends.

Mike

I can imagine it's a nice drum, although I have no experience with it. One thing for sure, it will be heavy! With the BB, you just can't go wrong.

A 7"x14" brass shell snare drum is going to be one LOUD drum indeed.

That drum looks really nice. I have no experience playing dw's brass snares, but I too am curious how it will compare to Ludwig's famous Black Beauty. If you decide to get it, let us know how you like it.

This might be slightly risky for you, having such a deep shell, made of brass. This drum will have a lot of personality, maybe more than you might want. It's the kind of drum you would have to try before you buy.

Personally, I would hold off on this and do a little more searching into other drums.

Check out these two Yams, both are very good snares, real nice ring.

Is the Crav's serial number in the same sequence as the rest of your kit? If it is, you might want to keep it.

I have a 5 X 14 DW brass, a 6.5 X 14 BB SS, and a 6.5 X 13 brass Yammie. I like brass snares a lot. The BB will fit in to the stuff you're into.

That DW looks real cool. The hoops will focus the sound, and it will match your kit. Like Steamer said, it'l be an agressive drum. The price is pretty good too. Looks like a good drum and a fair deal to me.
