Hey, somebody asked me a question and I wasn't able to think of the answer... a little help please!
Neil Peart regularly includes the work of which other legendary drummer in the finale of his solo's?

Thanks so much.

If you are referring to the big band ending, I believe that is somewhat of a tribute to Buddy Rich.Neil headed up a tribute CD (Burning For Buddy) a few years ago.
I know that Gene Krupa is also a big influence.
I really like that big band ending in his solos. It's such a contrast to his own style of playing.

In the latest cd of rush (my fav band), snakes & arrows, there is a song called Malignant Narcissism, and in a interview from modern drummer, he explains his solo's are from (not directly quoted):
The first one was from a buddy rich solo, the second "incorporating some melange of tony williams, terry bozio, steve gadd, and me." He takes a lot form those guys in a solo, bbut TONS from buddy.

He talks about this on the DVD that he put out, Anatomy of a Drum Solo. If I recall, the film at the end show a clip of Gene Krupa and then Buddy. (I was just wacthing it last night with my friends.)
