my old premier (snare drum)

i recently cleaned my old premier royale snare drum(i then notieced how many fingerprints i put on it whilst carrying it upstairs)
it is all chrome plated copper,and sounds fantastic. a beautiful,loud,crisp snap.

any information on this snare drum would be much appreciated.

i htink its from somewhere between 1981-89

like i said though,any info on the kit/snare would be greatly appreciated

looks awesome! i have only two suggestions...

1. new batter head. that one looks pretty bad.
2. snare strings. get rid of that plastic stuff.

do that and itll be sweet looking and sounding.

edit: check your resonant head too. it might need replacing.

hey, thanks for the feedback.

i recently spent all my saved money on a new pedal/beaters/skins for rest of kit and a meinl china.

im saving up for a snare skin of some sort, just not sure which.

any suggestions?
+also, theres a crack in 18" b8, anyone know what i should do?

when you get the money for a head go to guitar center or your drum shop and just ask them about the differences in heads. try some of the demo snares that uhave diff heads and listen carefully.

on my two snares i have different heads.
13"x6" steel spaun - evans ec2 coated (the coating is translucent)
14"x5" pacific fs birch snare (came with my shells) - evans genera dry

just play around with them. if you get the wrong one it really wont be that far off.

way back when i cracked two b8s. me and my dad took a handheld metal grinder to em and just cut the bad edge off. made them kinda oval shaped. they wont be perfect... but you wont have a crack killing the vibration.

dude thats the same snare drum i use with my drum teacher. It sounds great with a coated ambassador cranked up tight eh?

Yeah, I have one, too. It sounds amazing when it's cranked up! It came with a Premier kit that I bought from the original owner, who bought the kit in 1979. It was part of an "Elite" kit.

Put a Remo Fiberskyn 3 on that thing.... it will balance out the attack perfectly.
