I am having a Custom Kit built for me, and I already have the bass drum and soon to have the rack and floor toms later this summer. I am currently useing Pearl's 14x8 Vinnie Paul snare. I like the snare a lot, but I want to have one to match the kit, and I can still use Vinnie as a back up. I was wondering if I should have a 14x10 or 14x8 snare made, the price is about the same. I was wondering if anyone has had any experiance with anything deeper than a 14x8 snare, and if the two inches make a big difference or anything. Thanks for your input.
The kit its going to be in is a 28x15 bass a 14x12 rack and a 18x16 floor all maple keller shells.

I would personally go with a 14x8, like my main snare (Starclassic Bubinga). I've never tried anything deeper, but 14x8 is the deepest I'd use, mainly because you begin to lose sensitivity at 7" deep.

14x8 although I wouldn't use one for myself.14x10 it's just too much and it would be way too high and uncomfortable.

i think he might be lacking in the depth of his "drums" and now he's making excuses so he feels better about himself. Yeah i'd say go with the 14x8" unless you want a ridiculously low tuning there's not much point in going any lower i'd say.
