Haven't posted for a while because we reformed the band with a new bassist and rhythm guitarist. We are now called "The Ezra Jaynz Band". We play Blues, Classic Rock, and Boogie. Here's pictures from last night's H.O.G. Benefit For Muscular Dystrophy concert.
First time for the Tama Superstar Hyper Drives outside. They sounded great miced up outside. Our new web site is in the works and will be up at a later date. Enjoy.

First how are the Peavey 115’s working for you? I have an old pair of SP5’s that are about done and I’m looking for a replacement.

More importantly your kit looks great and I’m sure the biker gig was a blast. I’ve read the Hyper Drive kits are very one dimensional in their sound compared to say your standard size drums. I have three kits of standard size and all are very flexible in the tuning range and sound. Your thoughts on the Hyper Drives in this regard.

The 115's worked great and carried the load with no problem. We were sharing our 16 channel Mackie board with the other band, (see the far right of the photos), and had all 16 channels in use. Our 3 power amps have a total of 1400 watts, 2 amps for the mains and the third for the monitors.

As far as tuning on the Hyper drives, I find that they sound good tuned either high or low and have a bit more "punch" than the other two Tama kits I've had in the past, a 70's era Imperialstar, (poplar with the gray "Zola Coat" interiors) and an early 90's Rockstar Pro, (mahogany, with the deep "power toms"). The Hyper Drives, in my opinion, are easier and faster to tune. The snare has an Evans Power Reverse Dot batter and all the toms are Evans G2 coated over G1 clears. The kick is the stock batter and reso that is factory on the Hyper Drives and it sounds good so far.

Great pictures, the kit looks great outside with the band. Looks like a fun gig too. I've always been hesitant about kits with short stack toms fearing that it's just a gimmick, but in all honesty all i can hear about these superstar hyperdrives is good. Provided good tuning and a good quality kit-- both of which you have.

Your kit looks fantastic, and your guitarist (the one with the V) has one hell of an amp, too!
