should i get a crappy ashton entry level kit i.e http://www.allansmusic.com.au/Product.aspx?p=92415, or a mappex kit like this http://www.allansmusic.com.au/Product.aspx?p=115235 which is bout 250 more.
is there that much of a difference between these two kits or is it just the name? i currently have a Pearl ELX export series 6-piece kit, which i love, but i need another kit since we're practising at our guitarist's place now. i've gotton sick of moving the kit continuously so this is my option. cheers guys.

well i think you just answered your own question. The Ashton is crappy. Unless this kit is for practice at home in which case i recomend you get a smaller kit which doesn't make as much noise since you're the only one who wants to hear it in those curcumstances.

you can get a better price than that on the Mapex.

i would go with the mapex, because it is better quality by 1,000.

the mapex kit would last you more than a few months too...
